About
Described by Limelight as “a masterclass in ensemble finesse” Andromeda Sax Quartet have leapt onto the scene as one of Australia's most exciting young chamber ensembles. Since their inception in 2022, Andromeda have melded tradition and innovation, advocating for the wonderfully diverse world of the saxophone quartet.
In 2025, Andromeda were the Australian Festival of Chamber Music’s Fellowship Ensemble, invited to return following their performance in the festival’s 2024 Pathways Program. As fellows, Andromeda made their mainstage debut and performed a two-week tour of North Queensland, including masterclasses and workshops with students. In the same year, they performed the Australian premiere of Viet Cuong’s Second Nature, a concerto for saxophone quartet, as featured soloists with the North Shore Wind Symphony.
In 2023, Andromeda were winners of the prestigious Henderson Travelling Bequest, enabling them to travel to the European University of Saxophone in Gap, France, where they were mentored by the world’s leading saxophonists. They were finalists in the Sydney Conservatorium Concerto Competition, and they have appeared as featured artists in Dots + Loops’ 2023 PLAYBACK Festival in Brisbane, where they performed several Australian premieres.
Andromeda were the inaugural performers at the Sydney Botanic Gardens Amphitheatre, and have enjoyed numerous performances across Australia. In 2025, their self-managed recital season saw them perform across Sydney and Melbourne, and their 2026 season launched with the quartet’s first performance in Merimbula, NSW.
